Smiles and sport in Walungurru

Walungurru welcomed back the first of Red Dust's corporate volunteers from Johnson & Johnson to support our Healthy Living Program.

The highlight of the program theme of physical activity, confidence and team building was a school athletics carnival. There was lots of fun to be had learning some new sports activities like javelin throw, relay races, hurdles and team chants. Each team designed their own team mascot.

It was a challenge to know which team had the loudest chant with everyone using a lot of energy that they replenished with at the community BBQ.

Our team were also supported by the dental team from Royal Flying Doctors Service to provide health education sessions. In these session, Walungurru students discovered how much sugar is in different foods and drinks.

It was smiles all round with some proud moments of wearing their own Red Dust t-shirt and cap at the end of the athletics carnival.

Palya to the Walungurru community for taking part in a great Healthy Living Program and congrats to the Dingoes team for winning the carnival!

Red Dust programs provide engaging opportunities for youth in remote communities.
